A whole host of blogging metaphors
Posted by Mark White, Blog Consultant in Blogging Basics , Blogging NewsLiz Strauss of Successful Blog fame has recently been running another wildly successful Group Writing exercise where she asked her readers to define their own metaphor for blogging, ideally to help explain it to those coming to blogging for the first time.
A huge range of really good and incredibly diverse metaphors were forthcoming which it seems appropriate to share here so that you can peruse them at your leisure.
There were also some “winners” chosen – randomly I might add, since my own Blogging Metaphor was one of them – who will be receiving a copy of Lorelles book “Blogging Tips What Bloggers Wont Tell You About Blogging“. The ten winners were:

Thanks for the nod. The opportunity to find and explore your site is exactly what I like so much about these group projects. Some good stuff hanging around here.

Thanks for the link. I was wondering if you would mind my sharing your “map” about business blogging. I think you have captured it very nicely.
June 26th, 2007 at 5:04 pm
Roger, thanks for your comment and glad that you feel that the “map” is worth sharing. I would of course be delighted for you to do so.

Nic, Thanks and I agree entirely and Liz does organise some excellent ones!

Not to be picky, but some of those “metaphors” were actually similes. I think they should have been disqualified.
Or this COULD be my way of lashing out because I didn’t know about the competition and was excluded.

@ Andrew – you are so right, more than half are similes, mine included. I’ll hand back my prize immediately!
Get Liz’s RSS feed in your feed reader so you don’t miss out on her next group writing project – and ProBlogger’s as well – and I’ll try to remember to drop you a line to remind you too.
All the best!
